I don't understand bringing up the holocaust. In fact I've never heard the holocaust seriously brought up as a reason to support Israel in modern times. Maybe i haven't been scraping the bottom enough to see there is something these people are reacting against but all i ever hear about the holocaust now a days is this sort of article. The holocaust hasn't had the power to sway political arguments in a long time and is a feature mainly of "anti-zionist" conspiracy talk. Secondly in a argument about self image he can't really be bashing it, or assuming that the lifted status its been given by the non jewish west can be blamed on or equal to the mindset of actual jews self image? So he talks about the Jews expecting the entire world to feel sorry for them but i am having trouble assuming that really is true for most Jewish people and true enough to contribute to a mindset of violence. The ending of the article is true enough, its just that simple sentence. Everything about Jewish State today seems to have followed a natural enough course that when discussing its identity you would discuss everything more recent than the holocaust. I'd find that much more relevant to the article.
